Gqeberha, Eastern Cape| Last day of the AEME Earthquake Response Exercise

The final day of the AEME Earthquake Response Exercise took participants to the Rescue SA warehouse, an important hub in South Africa’s disaster response ecosystem.

Delegates received an in-depth presentation on the organisation’s life-saving work, its deployment capabilities, and the role it plays in supporting government during major emergencies.

The visit also included a guided tour of the warehouse, where teams were able to observe specialised equipment, search-and-rescue tools, and the logistical systems that enable rapid mobilisation during disasters.

The engagement offered participants a real-world appreciation of the operational backbone required for effective earthquake and disaster response, rounding off the multi- day exercise with practical insight and strengthened collaboration.
