Ministerial Disaster Relief Measures Onsite Inspection and Walkabout

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Mr. Velenkosini Hlabisa, along with the Eastern Cape MEC of CoGTA, Mr. Zolile Williams and Executive Mayor of the OR Tambo District Cllr. Mesuli Ngqondwana conducted a walkabout in Mthatha today. The aim was to gain a real-time account of the integrated disaster relief measures activated to mitigate the impact of flooding on displaced families and critical infrastructure following persistent inclement weather.

The Minister visited multiple sites severely impacted within the O.R. Tambo District Municipality and engaged directly with affected families and community members.
