Deputy Minister Rev Burns-Ncamashe meets the Mining Qualifications Authority

The Deputy Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Rev. Prince Zolile Burns-Ncamashe, today led a strategic engagement with the Mining Qualifications Authority on the sidelines of the National Disaster Management Strategic Indaba.

The meeting sought to explore a collaborative partnership between the Department of Traditional Affairs and the Mining Qualifications Authority, with a focus on facilitating the sharing of information on prospecting opportunities, promoting best practices in mineral beneficiation, and examining sustainable business models for implementation in areas under traditional leadership jurisdiction.

The meeting brought together a high-level delegation which included the CEO of the Mining Qualifications Authority; Dr. Thabo Mashongoane and the Deputy Director General responsible for Institutional Support and Coordination; Ms Thandaza Shandu.

Opening the meeting, Deputy Minister Burns-Ncamashe, emphasised the critical role of strategic partnerships in empowering traditional communities to access and participate meaningfully in the mining sector, an industry that often serves as a vital economic lifeline within areas under traditional leadership.
