By Communications on May 20, 2026

The National Capacity Building Coordinating Committee (NCBCC) is convening a two- day meeting (20–21 May 2026) at the NDMC Main Boardroom under the theme “From Commitment to Action.” The session focused on reviewing progress on the implementation of the Integrated Public Awareness Strategy (IPAS) for Quarter 1 and aligning disaster management capacity-building plans for the 2026/27 financial year.

Day 1 is centred on governance matters, progress updates from the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC), and presentations from national departments and key stakeholders. Discussions highlighted ongoing capacity-building programmes, disaster risk reduction initiatives, and early warning systems, while emphasising the need for integrated planning, collaboration, and improved coordination across sectors.

Day 2 will focus on provincial inputs, with Provincial Disaster Management Centres presenting their capacity-building plans. These engagements reinforce the importance of alignment across all spheres of government and strengthening community-level preparedness. The meeting will also reflect on regional cooperation and consolidated key priorities moving forward.

The meeting will conclude with clear resolutions aimed at enhancing coordination, strengthening implementation of the IPAS, and ensuring measurable impact in disaster management capacity building.
